Wirral CVS

This project will engage those adults and NEET group most disengaged from learning.  It will work with those with low or no qualifications and support them through providing learning and employability mentoring to re-engage them with learning in order to improve their choices and chances.  Clients will benefit from a service that will encourage them to explore choices available to them, challenge barriers and gain the skills to make good choices.  In this way, they will be supported in making long term and sustainable changes in their lives that will have a positive impact on their personal and employment circumstances in the future.

We will also provide work based experience through volunteering and will provide work trials and guaranteed interviews.  Ongoing support would also be provided for up to 3 months in employment

The programme will comprise:-

  • Volunteer learning Guides working in communities inspiring interest from individuals in exploring learning to improve life choices and chances.
  • Paid Mentors working one to one with clients exploring and addressing learning and employment goals and barriers, engaging them in appropriate learning and supporting them through their learning journey. Further working with them on achieving their employment goals.
  • Literacy /numeracy trained volunteer tutors working in partnership with Wirral Lifelong and Family Learning Service offering Individual support and enabling clients to progress to Entry Level courses in time.
  • Mentors and Learning Guides will work with partners and others to achieve these aims: - learning providers, connexions, probation service, JCP (in particular lone parent and ESA advisers), drug abuse referral and support agencies (e.g. Phoenix House, Wirral DAAT & Arch Initiatives,) voluntary and community organisations and employers.
