Sahir House

This project provides help for individuals diagnosed as HIV+ to sustain, achieve or improve their employment opportunities.  This is achieved through a range of specialist training and support to an identified cohort of service users. This will include:

• Providing basic job-search skills training,
• Improving application and interview performance,
• Help with other key skills, such as general communication and organisation,
• Building the confidence of participants,
• Examining routes to gaining work experience,
• Providing a limited number of work placements at Sahir House (possibly in business, admin, catering and childcare),
• Exploring routes for qualification and accreditation (NVQ etc),
• Informing people around their protections under the Disability Discrimination ACT (DDA).

These activities will be designed to not only to provide practical help in gaining employment but also to boost confidence, self-esteem and ambition. Support received on the programme will be supplemented through individual support for beneficiaries from staff, counsellors, therapists and volunteers
