Neuro Support

This project focuses upon those people who are at risk of worklessness following a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or diagnosis of a long-term neurological condition.  The project will employ an engagement worker who can proactively get to people early in their diagnosis or following a brain injury so that we can advise and support them to ensure that their lives continue with the minimum of disruption.

Engagement will be made via close liaison with hospitals (especially the Walton centre for Neurology), rehabilitation units, GPs, Job Centres and Streets Ahead.  Course will also be held to positively impact on people’s cognitive impairments such as memory education and anger management.

Volunteering

Volunteers assist with the day to day tasks that enable the centre to run smoothly. Click here to find out more about volunteering.

Statement of Primary Purpose

The aims of Neurosupport are to provide advice, information and support to people with a neurological condition, their families and care professionals, and to raise the awareness of neurological conditions in the community at large. The Centre has meeting and conference facilities, a dedicated library and database, produces regular newsletters, and provides office accommodation for a number of neurological charities.

Services provided by Neurosupport

Neurosupport provides a number of different advice and information sessions based on both individual disabilities, and also on issues such as welfare rights, employment issues, and the law, and holds regular exhibitions and awareness raising events on matters such as holidays for disabled people, aids to communication, book launches, theatre productions and open days. It is also the base of the Working Life Service, which offers support and advice to people with neurological disorders on issues surrounding employment, work retention, retraining and alternatives to work.

Outreach

Neurosupport provides an information desk at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Links are also established at Whiston Hospital, Countess of Chester Hospital and Warrington General Hospital.Neurosupport also operates a Black and Racial Minority Outreach Service.

Meeting and Conference Facilities

The centre has several rooms, which are ideal for meetings and conferences.
